It does make sense to me why painting white or paler color the roof of a building is one of the best strategies to help deal with a global warming problem. It’s not the complete solution, but it has a significant reduction effect that will help minimize the cause of the said problem.

The basic principle is that, sunlight’s waves reflect back to its source when obstructed by a white or paler surface. Thus, the effect is a cooler building and as a result, less energy consumption. It takes a huge amount of energy to cool a very hot building due to the heat of the sun when its rooftop color is other than white or a pale color. Other rooftops colors tend to absorb almost all of the heat generated by the sunlight.

Now, what if all types of vehicles and the roads are colored white? We will then have a cooler environment. The heat it’s supposed to absorb will be reflected back away from it, and the road it’s running over will be cooler also. Thus, vehicle will save lots of its energy normally consumed for cooling purposes.

Other people have some troubles with white and light colors. They found that white color is hard on their eyes. However, according to the US Energy Secretary Steven Chu, it’s no longer a problem because scientists had also developed “cool colors” which looked to the human eye like normal ones, but reflect heat like pale colors even if they are darker shades.

So, to help control or reduce global warming problem, a unity of action globally is needed.
