The trend today is that lots of people are after for a new cutting-edge gadget or technology. Some who are called early adapters are rushing to get one, especially for this Apple’s new iPad, which will be available for pre-order Friday for an April 3 release. But don’t worry friends, there would be no shortage of the supplies for the shoppers wanting to go first.
There are good reasons to just patiently wait for sometimes to avoid any regret later on. Normally, first versions of emerging technology are at premium prices and riddled with glitches. “Even the first iPhone owners were pretty unhappy”, said Kelli B. Grant at SmartMoney.com.
After few months, you can be assured that prices will definitely go down as what had happened to other early technologies such as the early versions of Apple’s iPad, mobile phone, iPhone, cellphone, etc. A good example of this is Apple had introduced the iPhone in 2007, and it slashed the 8GB version’s $599 price tag to $399 just 10 weeks later.
So, let’s just wait patiently for the right time when the right technologies have matured already and when the prices are already stabilized. Just be sure that your gadget will have the connectivity that is very important for you and fits your plans where to use it. If you plan to use it at home or other areas with Wi-Fi hotspots, then it would be fine. However, if you want to work while traveling in a fast-speed vehicle or in other locations where Wi-Fi is scarce, or you want to have full access to that rich Internet content, then you better have a device with 3G connectivity. So, let’s wait later this spring for iPad model with 3G connectivity will be launched that time.
“If you’re looking for an e-reader you may want to wait for Amazon’s expected Kindle 3, while Dell’s Streak tablet offers more computing power,” Enderle says. Another soon-to-be-released contender, Notion Ink’s Adam, “is probably closer to what the second-generation iPad will be than what the iPad currently is,” he says.
