This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your Word has revived me. - Psalm 119:50
Mental illness is a difficult thing for any individual or family to deal with. With it comes a host of issues - painful emotions, financial difficulties due to medical bills and missed work, alienation from loved ones, and a harsh and persistent stigma, to name just a few. But even though it might seem a simplistic solution, many people dealing with mental illness have found great value in memorizing Scripture. They find that God does speak to them through His Word and that comforting words from Scripture - verses that speak of God’s faithfulness and love in particular - help to calm their thinking processes, making them better able to deal with what life throws at them.
The truth is that the Bible offers everyone hope, and memorizing Bible passages can give us strength for all our day-to-day difficulties. When we mull over the truths of God’s Word, we are better equipped for life.
Nothing ranks higher for mental discipline than a planned and systematic study of God’s Word, from whence life’s parameters and values are planted in the mind.

Prayer for the Day
Dear Lord, I come to you in the name of Jesus. You know that at times I do experience fear. I am so glad I can come to you and when I pray, You remove that fear and give me the faith and confidence that I need to trust You. Help me to trust You more. Thank you that Your angels are watching over me and my loved ones. I am sure when I get to heaven I will be amazed at the many things that You protected me from in this life. Lord, have mercy on the lost and give them opportunity to come to You and be spared from the awful judgments in this world. Use me to share Your love with those around me that do not know You. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunities to witness to the lost. Give me the right words to speak to them and prepare their hearts to receive them. Amen.
