I thought, I could not get up this morning because of my stiff neck. It’s my second time, but today’s was really very terrible. I need to shout out loud to counter the pain every time I moved almost any part of my body, especially those having direct connection with my neck.
I am thinking of two possible reasons why I had this problem today, but the other two might be some of the contributing factors. The first is because of the Thai massage I had last Saturday (2 days ago). The other one is because of too much tennis yesterday. I had played four sets winning the first two: 6-4, 6-3 and losing the other two: 4-6, 6 – 7(9).
After completing the four sets, my opponent and I had decided to stop playing for both of us were really so exhausted, playing from 3 P.M. to around 7:00 P.M.
Since, it’s not my first time that I had played this much sets in a single day, then the likelihood that it is the cause is very less. On the other hand, the Thai massage I had was already two days ago, and not my first time. None of my previous Thai massages had caused me the same problem before.
Therefore, the other two factors - wet by the rain and sleeping late - had surely contributed to it. Right after our tennis, rain dropped slowly over my head while walking toward the comfort room to clean up myself. And when I had gotten out from the toilet, the rain had become so strong that even walking under the covered walk, it’s impossible not to get wet by it. After eating dinner, walked under the rain going to the car parked about 20 meters away and then sitting inside it for about an hour travel fully air conditioned.
After watching the World Cup 2010 FIFA tournament between Germany and England teams for almost two hours at our friend’s new house, I went back home and do something on the Internet and then slept at past 12 midnight.
Around 5 A.M. I already had felt the pain on my neck. It’s really a very horrible experience. So, I said to myself never to following again: Thai massage, too much tennis, wet by the rain after tiring activities, and sleeping late, especially when my body is too tired.
